On historic ground on the north side of Schiphol Trade Park, near Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, stands Fokker 7|8: a pioneering 38,000 m² logistics centre where circularity, innovation and future-oriented building come together. A development commissioned by Prologis, realised by Delta Development in cooperation with VolkerWessels and Reggeborgh Group.
OPL's design is entirely based on Cradle-to-Cradle principles and realised according to the Design for Disassembly concept. During construction, 97% of the demolition material was reused, and the structure is largely disassembled, with minimal welds and bolted joints facilitating future reuse.
Fokker 7|8 sets a new standard in sustainable logistics. Solar panels provide more than enough energy for its own use, while surpluses are shared with the surrounding area. Olivine-based asphalt, biodegradable grey water systems, recycled concrete granulates and restored waterways contribute to a healthy living environment, for people and nature.
The building features a digital materials passport that makes every component traceable and reusable. Employees benefit from green areas, plenty of daylight and charging points for electric transport. This vision of circular construction was awarded the National Steel Sustainability Award in 2015, recognising the innovative use of steel and the integrally implemented circular design.
Reusable. Reformable. Groundbreaking. Fokker 7|8 is more than a logistics building. It is an icon for circular development, built with respect for the past and the future.
