Start of construction SEGRO Logistics Centre

Bornheim, April 2025 - SEGRO and Delta Development have started construction of the SEGRO Logistics Centre Bornheim-Sechtem. The project will be realized on a 2.1-hectare brownfield site in Bornheim-Sechtem, strategically located between Cologne and Bonn, and represents an important milestone in the sustainability of the region's logistics sector.

With the successful completion of the forward funding agreement, the construction phase has now officially begun. Completion of the project is scheduled for early 2026.

The logistics center will comprise approximately 12,000 m² of state-of-the-art business space and is being developed according to the principles of Cradle-to-Cradle®, which focuses on circularity, innovation and environmentally conscious construction. Sustainable measures include the use of CO₂-reduced concrete, wooden trusses, a fossil-free air-source heat pump and insect-friendly lighting. Active efforts are also being made to promote biodiversity on and around the site. The goal is certification in accordance with the DGNB Gold standard.

The location of the center offers excellent accessibility via the nearby A555, A61 and A4 freeways, as well as via the Sechtem train station, which is within walking distance and guarantees good public transport connections. This makes the center ideally suited for logistics operations in the Rhine-Main area and the Benelux.

The project is being realized in cooperation with various partners, including LIST Bau Nordhorn, LIST Eco, VELLOWS, JLL and LPA Law. SEGRO and Delta Development express their appreciation for the joint efforts and expertise that make this sustainable and future-oriented project possible.

Christopher Gigl, Investment Director at SEGRO:
"With this project, we are responding to the growing demand for high-quality and sustainable logistics space in the Cologne-Bonn region. We look forward to a successful cooperation with Delta Development and our other partners."
